My favorite show of this trip so far was "The Heart of Robin Hood." The main reason I loved this play so much was the fact it was different from the original "Robin Hood." In fact, I love this plotline so much better than the original. The way the cast was picked was wonderful; they seemed to know each other very well, which helped them play off each other. Some of the little details stick to your brain for days. One of these being that Robin Hood would sleep on this lyre and it would spin around slowly as he slept which to me was such a cool idea. The fight scenes were just as fun. The little pieces of fighting makes it look really cool. The last thing I loved about this play, was the way the actors made it so funny. My favorite character would have to be Pierre, just because the way he always seemed to make us laugh. This play was just a marvelous play, and I just wanted to watch it again right after it ended.

Yesterday we got to see a magnificent production of Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew. The production was set in a modern day boardwalk in Padua. They used a lot of bright, happy colors to draw on the comedy within the show. The set had really cool aspect such as a fortune teller but also the neon signs you would expect  on a boardwalk. In the background they used a Ferris Wheel and the outline of a roller coaster! The acting was phenomenal, and we got to see our tour guides from the first day in the show. The actress playing Kate was awesome and I am so excited to see her as Stella in A Streetcar Named Desire. Every show we have seen have been amazing and I am so excited to see King Lear and The Heart of Robin Hood today.

Well, we have had our first experience in the Elizabethan theater. Some of us were freezing and some of us had so many layers on that we resembled the kid from x-mas story, "I can't put my arms down".  However the play was enjoyable non the less. Cymbeline was fabulous in my opinion, I thought that the actors did a very good job of articulating the Shakespeare so that I could understand every word even from the very back of the theater. Earlier in the week we got the privilege to talk to the head projection designer at OSF and he talked about how he had for filled a dream to put projections on the facade surrounding the stage. we got to see a rolling ocean, forest hills, ghostly shadows. Overall an absolutely inspiring experience.

Saw an AMAZING production of Cymbeline last night! I had never read this play,  or seen it on stage, so I was really excited...and as usual OSF did not disappoint. The set was gorgeous and elaborate, and the director had chosen to present some of the characters in fantastical, magical way (think horns and long elf-like ears). I wish I could adequately describe the use of projections in the Elizabethan theatre.Images were projected on the huge tudor walls beside and above the enormous stage. For example, whenever the action moved from a scene in England to a scene in Italy, ocean waves splashed and lapped across the walls.Beautiful! However, one of my personal favorite aspects of the evening was watching this show sitting next to Rachel Bjork, by the end of the show we had our heads together exclaiming delightedly as every strand of the plot came together. She is a charming and intelligent young woman. What a great evening of theatre!

Oregon Shakespaeare Festival - Day 3!

We arrived in Ashland, checked in to our hotel and then had the pleasure of meeting with Michael Maag and Gwen Turos.  They gave us amazing insight into the workings of the festival and their careers.  We feel really blessed to have them their time with us.  It's an amazing connection to the festival.

Guest Blogger: Kaleb Turner:  Well the plane ride in was one of the most interesting plane rides of my life. There was a little turbulence during the plane ride, but in my opinion it was kind of fun. The hotel that we are staying at is great and the landscape is beautiful. The first play that we saw was "The Tenth Muse", I really enjoyed all of the different tech aspects and the acting was wonderful. The second play we saw was "My Fair Lady", this play was a very fun musical and it had me tapping my feet to the music. Well, we have more plays tonight and I am really looking forward to them. This is Kaleb Turner signing off.  SEE YA!M

Guest Blogger:  Mackenzie Williams:  On Tuesday we had the pleasure to see two theatrical productions in the Bomer theatre.  The theatre is a beautiful stage with vast seating.  The first production we saw was a new play called "The Tenth Muse", and it was a serious tale discussing overcoming diversities and education.  It was set in a Nunnery during the time of the plague.  The production had unique tech elements like using flame projections.  The second show we saw was the musical " My Fair Lady".  The show kept you entertained the entire time.  I thoroughly myself while laughing at the actors and tapping my foot to the fast tempo of the music.  Today we get the pleasure to see more plays in this lovely town and i can't wait.
